New Child Tax Rebate

“We all know how costly it is to provide for our children,” says Provident Financial Advisor, Cassandra Dorn, “As a mother of three, I understand how every little bit can help.  Last March, a child tax rebate passed through the Wisconsin State Legislature and it’s definitely something you’re going to want to get on board with.”

“Families with qualified children are eligible for the $100-per-child tax rebate,” shares Cassandra.  Qualified children include:

  •  Those under the age of 18 on December 31, 2017
  •  U.S. citizens
  • Residents of Wisconsin on December 31, 2017

The claiming period starts today, May 15th, and runs through July 2nd,” notes Cassandra.  “This rebate gives families a little extra cash for school supplies, dentist co-pays, bills, etc.  If you have kids, it’s definitely worth sitting down and taking the time to do.  I already did mine, and it took around five minutes if you have your kids’ information handy.”

To claim your rebate, visit the State of Wisconsin Department of Revenue website.  Only one parent can claim qualified children and will need the following information, per the Department of Revenue website:

  • Your Social Security number and Wisconsin residency for tax year 2017
  • Your qualified child's Social Security number and date of birth
  • If you choose direct deposit, they'll need your bank routing number and account number
  • If you are a nonresident or part-year resident that moved out of Wisconsin in 2017, you must submit additional proof.
